Walnut Hill School for the Arts -- Math Faculty

Walnut Hill School for the Arts seeks a dynamic and innovative educator for the Math & Science Department. We seek an experienced teacher capable of teaching various levels of college preparatory mathematics; the teaching responsibilities may include other STEAM subjects depending on the candidate’s areas of interest and expertise.  This full-time faculty position will include teaching five sections and contributing to the campus community by attending performances, supporting the residential life program and being an advisor.

Director of Facilities - Meadowbrook School of Weston

Director of Facilities Meadowbrook, an independent JK-8 school of academic excellence, is a multi-building year round campus situated on approx. 30 acres in a quiet residential area of Weston, MA. The primary responsibility of the Director is to oversee the Facilities Department employees, their work, and the work of any contracted trades while ensuring a safe, compliant, efficient, and attractive private school environment and site. This position reports to the School Business Manager but also works closely with the Headmaster as well as the Board of Trustees.

The Facilities Director oversees all aspects of the maintenance and repair of building systems including, but not limited to: various HVAC systems, power distribution systems, card access and security systems, “FAST” septic system, fire protection systems, 2 State permitted pools (CPO), 2 full sized gymnasiums, a 900 sq. ft. performance stage, all ADA, fire code, and building code compliance. On our wetlands sensitive site we also maintain campus flora and fauna, three and a half natural turf soccer fields, a baseball field, 4 tennis courts, a K-8 playground, and 8 different building locations.

  • Demonstrated life long learner with deep building trades experience

Duties and Responsibilities: Being a hands-on team leader with previous exposure to multiple building trades is an important quality for any applicant. The successful applicant will be relied upon to:

  • Maintain an effective campus wide preventative maintenance and computerized work order program
  • Be an effective department manager, project scheduler and work expediter
  • Demonstrate flexibility, proven ability to adjust priorities
  • Participate in a standby/emergency schedule for evening, weekend, special events and holiday coverage when needed.
  • Complete periodic inspections of the school’s buildings, grounds and equipment
  • Train subordinates in proper work means and methods
  • Evaluate Facility department employees annually
  • Become First aid and CPR certified, retain Mass CPO certification, Hold or acquire AHERA program manager certification, hold or acquire EPA-RRP certification

Job Summary

The Assistant to the Middle School Director provides a high level of administrative support to the Middle School Director and the Middle School Office. This person serves as a source of information for students, parents, faculty, and visitors, and helps to ensure the smooth operation of the day-to-day activities of the Middle School Campus. Specific responsibilities include maintaining the Middle School calendar and the calendar for the Middle School Director, planning and coordinating Middle School events and meetings, providing administrative support for the Middle School Office, and corresponding with faculty, students, and parents. The Assistant also provides support to other Middle School and All-School functions as time permits.

This is a 12-month, full-time position working 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Occasional meetings require the Assistant to the Middle School Director to be available before or after these hours.

Performance Expectations

Support for the Middle School Director

● Serve as first contact (filter) for all constituencies

● Manage the Director’s calendar

● Correspondence handled effectively - researched, drafted, and prepared for the Middle School Director’s reply

● Materials necessary for meetings are anticipated and prepared

● Meeting minutes for relevant meetings, as needed

● In the absence of the Middle School Director, any needs, concerns, or questions are provided an appropriate response

Middle School Office Administrative Responsibilities

● Serve as the “go to” person for the Community: internal and external

● Serve as the campus liaison for other all -school operations department, as well as campus parent association

● Work closely with Assistant Director on both operational issues, student’s schedules and reports

● Attends all MS Operations Committee meetings

● Smooth and accurate flow of information to and from the Middle School Office

● Phone calls and emails are answered promptly, courteously, and professionally

● Incoming mail is reviewed and distributed

● Letters, reports, and other printed materials are free from error, well-formatted, and positively represent the School

Skills and Competencies

An education beyond high school (a bachelor’s degree or equivalent) is preferred. At least two years of administrative support or experience in an educational environment is required. Prior experience in meeting, event, and calendar management is also required.

The Assistant to the Middle School Director will demonstrate the following skills and competencies:

● Computer literacy in a Windows environment with strong skills in Word, Excel, and database software (preferably FileMaker Pro); comfortable learning new software. Google & Haiku Learning are also used daily.

● Strong proficiency with writing, grammar, and proofreading

● Ability to create and maintain a comprehensive filing system
