Get involved with POCIS-NE

People of Color in Independent Schools depend on the support of our members.  One the most important ways that our members can support POCIS-NE is to join our board. The information below provides details on how to get involved with the POCIS-NE Board. If you do not have the time to commit to a board position, you can still get involved! Contact one of the POCIS-NE co-chairs for more information.

Future Board Members: POCIS-NE is an organization that thrives because of the volunteer support of educators. If you wish to work in support of POCIS-NE and believe you have skills and energy that will advance our mission, please get involved.  Requirements and guidelines are below. Terms are for a minimum of three (3) years. We are seeking individuals with the following backgrounds:

  • Equity/Multicultural education training 
  • Non-profit experience and leadership  
  • Educators, parents, and trustees from independent school
  • Finance/Accounting
  • Technology/Web
  • Communications/Public Relations
  • Admissions and Constituent Relations 

Board recruitment process

  1. Please email the following information to Jason Singleton at
    1. Cover letter of intent with your contact information, addressing the following questions:
      1. Why do you want to be on the POCIS Board?
      2. What specific skills and professional experiences can you contribute to POCIS that focus on people of color, especially students, families, faculty, staff and administrators in independent schools?
      3. How have you worked as an agent of change for equity and justice?

    3. Two professional references with contact information or a letter of recommendation
  2. New board members must attend a new board member welcome and orientation
